Supported Charities
Silva Service Spit Roast Catering of Melbourne supports several charitable organisations. Being one of our customers will help support these great causes too! Part of our profit goes towards ongoing charities supported over the years, and your business helps support our donations (we couldn’t do it without our customers). For a more direct assistance, links to our favourite charities and supported causes are below, or you can simply order Thankyou Water with your next booking – for corporate catering we’re sure your staff will be happy to chip in for a bottle of water with your catering and make them feel involved too.
OUR CURRENT CAUSES:
From The Ground Up
This is our very own charity initiative. Working closely with The Umbrella Foundation Australia, we have set up a 100% for charity initiate to assist the children of Nepal. The plan this year is to fundraise on the coat-tails of TUFA who have generously offered to set up a trust account for us with no overheads. Prior to travelling to Nepal in 2017 their local contacts will advise where the funds are needed most and make arrangements to buy those things from local suppliers and manufacturers. We will travel there shortly after to personally ensure it has been spent wisely and has gone directly where it was intended. You can donate to help at https://umbrellaaustralia.org/donate or read more about this cause.
Cancer Council Australia
Inspired by one of our staff members, Liz, who actively supports and fundraises for the Cancer Council Relay For Life. Silva Service Spit Roast Catering has supported Liz with her fundraising, donating every year.
Relay For Life is an opportunity to get together with your community to celebrate cancer survivors, remember loved ones lost and fight back against cancer.
You can help: The success of our events relies on public support. From hosting or attending a morning tea to selling and buying Daffodil Day merchandise, there are plenty of ways you can lend a hand. Visit the website at www.relayforlife.org.au to see how you can support this worthy cause.
Plan International Australia
Since the 2004 tsunami we have been fostering a child through Plan International (Australia). With Sri Lankan heritage in our family we sponsor a child in Sri Lanka assisting his family, village, and community. We can’t publish his details, but later after visiting and seeing first hand the devastation brought to this third world country, the rebuilding they’d so far achieved through worldwide help, and the assistance they were still in desperate need of, it was something we were glad to have started long ago. Our foster child has sent us several letters over the years describing how we have helped his community, and brings us happiness to think we have helped if only a small amount.
Plan International helps many communities world-wide and in our family we also adopt an african child. It is only a personal opinion, and after reviewing several of the charities we chose this one as apparently the most directly benificial from our research.
For more information we urge you to visit www.plan.org.au to see for yourself if you can help those in need. At least it will be a starting point for you in your own research to decide where best you could help if you’re able.
